On Monday, charges against Carenne Support director Geoffrey John Salmon, 55 were mentioned before the Bathurst Local Court. Salmon was represented by his solicitor who told the court he was waiting to hear back from the prosecutor about representations made about the charges.
Salmon is charged with enter vehicle unlawfully and obstructing traffic after an alleged incident involving a protest in Bathurst in December against Carenne Special School, Carenne Support and the NSW government.
The matter is listed next for mention on 27 May 2010.

If a matter is heard in open court then it can be reported on unless there is some form of suppression order in place. The local court registry provided me with this information today after I identified myself and what it is that I do. It is hardly a secret and the public has a right to know.

It is a public interest issue because of the background. Concerned people in the wider community are exposing the mismanagement of Carenne Public School because that mismanagement fostered the sexual relationship between a teacher and student, an illegal situation which indirectly ended in gaol for the special needs student, and now a civil action seeking compensation because the claimant alleges DET neglected their duty of care to him. Many parents and teachers still believe the sort of neglect which harbours all sorts of rorts and wrongs continues at Carenne and in other schools in NSW on a regular basis. We are doing what the bought and paid for media refuse to do, I believe they are conflicted. We are actually providing a place where parents and politicians may participate in an open public forum, we must do this because the Department of Education and Training, Minister Verity Firth and her political cronies do not want the truth aired in public. Mr Salmon is alleged to have gone hands on in what may be found to have been a very bad error of judgement. It appeared he wanted to stop honest people airing their political concerns in public. It will look very fishy if Salmon gets a deal on the charges. Justice delayed is justice denied.

As no one else has mentioned this I thought it is worth pointing out. When seeking references for employment or support in a business venture among other things, the person asked may refuse to provide a reference, and will usually do that if they have nothing particularly supportive to offer the applicant. But sometimes a reference may not be quite what the applicant needs. That particular reference can be left out of a résumé that is just how it is done. There is nothing dodgy about selecting the best references for your purpose from those you have on hand. I understand from what I have read that someone has vetted the application for bus driver, then checked back to the parent who wrote shall we say a less favourable reference and now that has become part of the Carenne School gossip. There is no requirement which insist an applicant must provide an unfavourable reference.
Writing an unfavourable reference is generally considered vindictive and a waste of your time. If you consider the laws of defamation it should prevent a prudent person from providing a reference to a third party which may be challenged as defamatory and the applicant is certainly not going to use it if it contains unfavourable references to the applicant’s ability or personal values. Corporations, prudent employers and people generally are too smart to write bad references because they do not want to take the risk, win or lose it cost a lot of money to fight a defamation action should the written information get “out “ and be identified as slanderous. Be assured DET legal people among others understand these things. That is why they have told their employees to stay off this string because so much of what we are collating along with the electronic links to those computers where it is generated may be actionable.

Therapists from outside of Carenne Support are sick and tired of coming to Carenne and being told how to do their job by someone who is a speech therapist.
She doesn't realise that those of us outside of Carenne Support are employed by other organisations (which are more ethical than Carenne Support) and have their own guidelines to follow. You go to Carenne and are TOLD by someone who knows nothing of your specialty how to do your job.
Why don't you tell porter to get on her bike.

In early 2009, Christine Porter told a number of parents to contact Nick Packham at DADHC and complain about how much worse the DADHC therapy was than the Carenne Support therapy. She was upset that they had lost DADHC funding.
What still upsets non-CSL therapists is how you have to do what Porter says when you go to Carenne. She is a SP not an OT or PT yet she seems to go around and do OT and even sometimes PT with students.
Carenne Support is all about putting profit before the students.

A multi-disciplinary approach is where therapists in the team are treated as equals. You walk into Carenne and you have Porter TELLING you how to do your job. She is a speech pathologist not a physio or an OT.
Those of us from outside Carenne have an obligation to the client foremost and our employer secondmost. We are sick of having Porter interfere in our work when she isn't trained in our field.

Until then the court will not release any information which may be supressed by the judge on the day. If people want to know why Niel Moon, Terry Niel, and Lee Anne Churches all believed to be employed at the notorious Carenne Public School have been issued an attendence notice they will need to attend the court to find out. We are advised it is no longer the practice to put the details of the reason for peoples call to attend on the court public listings.

Look! No one putting in a job application would include a rubbish reference with it! So it would be a fair to claim without looking they were all good references.
As no one else has mentioned this I thought it is worth pointing out. When seeking references for employment or support in a business venture among other things, the person asked may refuse to provide a reference, and will usually do that if they have nothing particularly supportive to offer the applicant. But sometimes a reference may not be quite what the applicant needs. That particular reference can be left out of a résumé that is just how it is done. There is nothing dodgy about selecting the best references for your purpose from those you have on hand. I understand from what I have read that someone has vetted the application for bus driver, then checked back to the parent who wrote shall we say a less favourable reference and now that has become part of the Carenne School gossip. There is no requirement which insist an applicant must provide an unfavourable reference.
Writing an unfavourable reference is generally considered vindictive and a waste of your time. If you consider the laws of defamation it should prevent a prudent person from providing a reference to a third party which may be challenged as defamatory and the applicant is certainly not going to use it if it contains unfavourable references to the applicant’s ability or personal values. Corporations, prudent employers and people generally are too smart to write bad references because they do not want to take the risk, win or lose it cost a lot of money to fight a defamation action should the written information get “out “ and be identified as slanderous. Be assured DET legal people among others understand these things. That is why they have told their employees to stay off this string because so much of what we are collating along with the electronic links to those computers where it is generated may be actionable.
