Regular readers of this blog would be well aware of the general level of incompetence displayed by Carenne Special School's principal Neil Moon. Moon is known as someone incapable of dealing with the serious issues at Carenne and who will lie and mislead parents and the public at every available opportunity to make himself look better.
Each year, every school in NSW has to publish an Annual School Report about the school. These reports include information on student numbers, staff numbers, student performance, school self-evaluation and areas identified for improvement. These reports are part of the department's requirements for transparency and accountability to parents, the school community, the department and the federal government.
As part of the reporting process, the principal appoints a self-evaluation committee consisting of community and parent representatives, teachers and executive staff members.
In 2010, Neil Moon breached departmental guidelines by not having a community or parent representative on the committee. In the report he lists Simone Russell, a school learning support officer at the school as the parent representative. He also lists Janelle Kemp as a teacher, despite her acting as an assistant principal at the time of the report. Given the history of both Mrs Russell and Mrs Kemp, parents and the public at large should be concerned about their appointment to the committee and Mr Moon's misleading statements about who they represented on the committee.
Once again procedures developed by the department for transparency and accountability are being sidestepped by Neil Moon who continues to cover-up the mass of issues at Carenne.

ReplyDeleteI also note that using a charitable orgainsation being riding for disabled which provides a recreational activity to some of the most vulnerable members of society being the disabled for a smear campaign is absolutely sick and abhorrent
Julie Brown is making this allegation as she is in fact Jenny O’Neil who worked for Carenne Support and was fired due to her committing serious acts of child abuse. She has a grudge against all those who are associated with Carenne Support.
These claims that have been made in this latest contribution from Julie Brown are complete rubbish and are complete slander. They are absolutely no evidence to support these ludicrous claims and I call upon Julie Brown to issue a full retraction to this article. I also note RDA will be reserving our right to commence legal action.
I also note that Julie Brown like to call herself a journalist yet she did not ask Mr Auld for comment nor RDA for comment. Mr Auld and RDA should have been provided with a right of reply before this latest contribution was published. She is clearly biased in failing to do so and does not wish to present alternative views. Her contribution should therefore be seen as a biased piece of journalism.
Let’s look at the contributions made by Julie Brown
“Carenne Gate received an angry response from staff and parents at Carenne saying that students didn't wear special riding boots when going horse riding and that there organisations far more deserving of the $1,000.”
The Riding for the Disabled only received the money recently that’s why there are no special riding boats. It is up to people how they wish to donate there funds and Julie Brown should respect there decision.

The only coach at RDA is Melinda Gavin, which is why whenever she is unavailable the program is suspended (without parents being refunded). A trainee coach, Lauren Dare has only recently become involved in the association, following it being grilled for over a year by parents and this blog”
This contribution is also inaccurate. Michael Auld is in fact a coach at Riding for the disabled I suggest Julie Brown check her facts before she writes something in future. I also note there are several coaches at RDA not just Melinda Gavin another inaccuracy.

The RDA is not involved in any rip off’s and this statement is completely false. I challenge Julie Brown to prove this.

ReplyDeleteMy name is Lucy from Riding for the Disabled Association NSW. Your actually incorrect about Michael Auld not being a coach when he is in fact a coach. Also Melinda Gavin is not the only coach at Bathurst RDA there is several coaches. On occasions when volunteers are not available unfortunately sessions may have to be cancelled.
The reason RDA hasn't supplied boats is that it only got this donation recently. If you read the article properly you would understand that the donation is being used to buy boats. RDA does not refuse services to anyone because of financial hardship. If you are unable to pay contact Wendy Young at Bathurst RDA on 6331 3098 to disscus the matter. These situations are handled with the utmost confidentiality.
