The Carenne Support AGM held at Carenne Special School last night was a farce according to one source in attendance. The source, who has a child at the school decided to go to the AGM after receiving a memo from the school inviting her to attend the Carenne Support AGM to discuss Carenne Support.
According to the source, the memo mentioned that Carenne Support was a worthwhile cause and they used their funds for physiotherapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy on students. "I have read the blog where you say that most students don't receive therapy so I went along to see for myself, it was the weirdest AGM I had ever been to."
The source claims there was a discussion about Carenne Support's financial position, where Graeme Grundy said the organisation was receiving increased revenue from the education department but was spending more on therapists. The source said she found it unusual that the financial statement wasn't circulated at the meeting.
The source asked Carenne Support what therapy they gave, knowing that her son only received therapy provided by NSW Health. Mary Housler became defensive and told her that the client list and their details were confidential. "I wasn't asking for details, I wanted an overview," said the source.
It's time that Carenne Support realises that as an organisation which claims to be a charity, it is accountable to the public and should be ran transparently.

ReplyDeleteBronwyn Mackay is a qualified Speech/Language Therapist, with multiple degrees in all facets of Special Education and she was forced to sit outside the toilets and "listen to kids read" all day every day, in efforts to break her (like parent helpers, or peer tutors do). The need for Speech and Language is dire and without language kids won't become literate - empirically proven, which is why Mackay did the Post Grad Dip Ed in Speech/Language at Uni of Sydney (where Speechies are trained, and under same tutors/lecturers and same training etc and qualifying for inclusion by Speech Australia). The so-called therapist at Carenne was NOT qualified yet being paid heaps of money. This was exposed and she has "disappeared". Why did DET sack Mackay? Why was Mackay NOT permitted to use the skills and experience she had/has to benefit the kids of Bathurst? Why are all these evil people so jealous of others who are gifted, dedicated, qualified, experienced and SUCCESSFUL? Why is this abysmal situation permitted to continue?

She can say all she wants that she told Shane French nothing but all conversations between the two were recorded by Shane for us.

ReplyDeleteExactly. Students are being abused on a daily basis. It is not until you see the good work going on elsewhere that you realise that there are other ways to deal with these students. KPS, BPS, BWPS, SBPS, BHC and KHC all have fantastic special education and behavioural programs that don't involve assaulting students.

ReplyDeleteWhat a load of codswallop!!! Peter Harvey fronted up to BWPS and declared that the DET could NOT provide a SAFE WORKPLACE for Bronwyn Mackay so she'd have to resign! WORKCOVER attended Bathurst and found the DET culpable of recurrent deliberate exposures to noxious, injurious chemical vapours and fresh paint fumes (causing chronic lung damage to Mackay) and untold damage to the tender, developing lungs of the infant children at the school. They were given a short period of time to fix this up. Surface things were carried out however, the deliberate exposures continued and escalated with lies being told by McDonald and eventual illegal sacking of Mackay. WORKCOVER refused to take the matter further or do anything to protect Mackay saying THE MATTER HAS GONE "HIGHER" UP AND WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DO ANYTHING TO HELP YOU OR TO LISTEN TO YOU". This means the corruption goes right up to the top - government and DET forcing WORKCOVER (who are there to PROTECT the worker) to 'back off' and tying their hands. This is the most blatant CORRUPTION. DEMAND A PUBLIC ROYAL COMMISSION INVESTIGATION INTO ALL OF THIS NOW. WHOEVER POSTED THIS RIDICULOUS "ANNOUNCEMENT" GO GET YOUR HEAD READ!

She was a whizz and knows her stuff thus she was hated! Tall poppy syndrome is alive and well in Bathurst you drongo and you're probably one of those who inflicts the death blows on talented, educated, capable and dedicated teachers like Mackay.

She was hated and totally ignored by everyone (McDiarmid issued the decree from Dubbo that she be ostracized, hated, feared, ignored and isolated - the best way to destroy people is to do this you see). They failed to take into account that she was stronger than that and just concentrated on the kids and parents who loved and appreciated her. Parents have been appalled that she was sacked and were vocal and also wrote letters but guess what? NOTHING was done, no answers to them, nothing. Typical DET CORRUPTION AND DECEIT. They couldn't break her so Mcdonald got the cops to drag her out of the school telling them she was on child protection investigation LIES and had to be removed. This was a vicious and abhorrent act which is being investigated and WILL BE ADDRESSED IN COURT DON'T WORRY. Mackay's work was her life which is why she had undertaken a Doctorate in Special Ed so she'd remain at the cutting edge. Compare that to these lying lazy deceitful teachers (including Harvey, Mcdonald, Mcdiarmid et al) who do nothing to LEARN and IMPROVE!!!!
